Every parent dreams of ways to give their kids a head start in the world, and the US government is finally offering them a helping hand.
President Donald Trump's new investment accounts for kids launches on July 4, giving eligible children a free $1,000 investment account that automatically invests in the stock market.
The initiative is a partnership of the US Treasury Department, Robinhood and Bank of New York Mellon, and it's one of the most unusual savings programs Washington has introduced in years.
And it's already attracting huge interest.
According to treasury officials, nearly 6 million of the roughly 60 million kids who are eligible have already been enrolled or signed up ahead of the nationwide launch.
