The Trade War With Canada Just Escalated Further

President Donald Trump plans to hike tariffs on more Canadian products at the start of next year, as the neighbors to the north exited trade negotiations at the last minute on Friday night.

The announcement comes as Ontario Premier Doug Ford is threatening to "cut" imports that could impact American energy supply, according to the Associated Press.

Vehicles such as trucks and cars of any size, steel, and “automotive parts” will soon be subjected to a 50% tariff.

In a Monday morning Truth Social post, the president said that “Canada has been ripping off the United States of America for years” and said that “ridiculously high tariffs” against farmers have created a major trade deficit that it “not sustainable.”

“Canada will be treated like a State no longer! On Trade, and in other ways, also, they are among the worst Nations in the World to deal with. They feel entitled, and yet, WE DON’T NEED CANADA, THEY NEED US!” he wrote.
