Is touring really traumatic—or have musicians forgotten how fortunate they are to make a living playing music?

Kurt Allison, Tully Kennedy, Kelley Lovelace and Neil Thrasher respond to the growing conversation about the emotional toll of touring. Drawing on decades of traveling in vans, trailers and buses—and sometimes playing 200 dates a year—they explain why chasing the dream was difficult, but never something they wanted people to pity them for.

The guys also discuss whether country-music award shows still represent the audience, apologize for an interview that didn’t go as planned, and react to a man accused of posing as a San Francisco 49ers player and defrauding women through an elaborate online identity.

Later, they mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, remember where they were that morning and ask whether America has forgotten the unity that followed.
