David Hogg, a longtime darling of the liberal media and a high-profile gun control activist, is in hot water with the Democratic National Committee. Just months after being elected vice chair, Hogg now finds himself at the center of a growing storm that may force him out.
The DNC’s credentials committee voted overwhelmingly—13 to 2—to toss out his February election. The official reason? Hogg’s election allegedly violated the party’s gender balance rules. But the deeper story goes well beyond technicalities.

Hogg used his new platform not to strengthen the party, but to attack it from within. Through his PAC, Leaders We Deserve, he launched a $20 million campaign aimed at unseating incumbent Democrats—calling them “asleep at the wheel.” His plan? Replace seasoned lawmakers with far-left ideologues more aligned with his own radical vision.
Party leaders were not amused. DNC Chair Ken Martin gave Hogg an ultimatum: stop meddling in Democratic primaries or step down. Hogg refused. Instead, he doubled down—refusing to pledge neutrality and continuing to fundraise off his DNC title to boost his PAC, all while drawing a healthy salary from it.
Critics within the party have accused him of putting personal ambition above party unity—using the DNC as a stepping stone for his own political machine.
Despite the committee’s vote, Hogg technically remains vice chair for now. The final decision lies with the full DNC, which will vote on the matter later this year. But the writing is on the wall: Hogg’s attempt to hijack the party for his own ends may be coming to a swift and embarrassing end.
