A host of leading younger Democrats are crafting a new group aiming to prevent the party from being in the “permanent minority,” the New York Times reported Thursday.
Members of the group, which is called Majority Democrats, are attempting to recruit new candidates and develop messaging to help boost the Democratic Party’s image and reverse its recent electoral fortunes, according to the NYT.
Craig also told the NYT she believes that the Democratic Party promoting anti-Trump messaging “might win a midterm election,” but said that “it’s not going to build lasting majorities.” The Minnesota Democrat added that “we’ve got to lay out the case for what we’re for as a party."Majority Democrats consists of roughly 30 Democratic leaders from all levels of government, according to the NYT.
Majority Democrats’ executive director is Rohan Patel, who formerly served on Tesla’s executive team and also worked in the Obama White House, the NYT reported. Others individuals working on the group’s communications division include Democratic strategists Lis Smith, Eric Koch, Andrew Mamo and Jackie Rosa, according to the outlet.
